Baby Frontosa

Newby baby Frontosa

Recreated as African Cichlid tank

African cichlid tank replaces Saltwater tank because of Saltwater wipe out of all fish. Nice substitute. Africans are colorful and active and transition was easy.

SALTWATER JOURNEY IS OVER

SALTWATER AQUARIUM JOURNEY IS ALL OVER!!! I have had my few years of successful experience and with my first tank wipe out, I must call it a day. I will reinvent tank as an African Cichlid tank. Easy conversion. Low cost for fish and bring back some stability financially and physcologically.

Possible causes of Ich Plague

Possible causes:

1. To many fish introduced in short period of time caused stress in tank, which brought about ICH.

2. OCD on my part once I saw the initial break out on the HIPPO, I overly reacted and tried to attack it with raising the temperature and meds(stress coat & Kordons ich(%100 natural). This may have contributed. Should have just let things be and taken the wait and see approach.

3. Hippo may have just introduced it open and closed case.

As of right now ich is gone but eye cloud and heavy breathing exists for all except for Wrasse and damsel. At this point if I loose them all, then I loose them all. I may call it a day with the Saltwater fish and give up. We shall see.... :(

The saltwater plague

Well after an initial successful introduction of my new Harlequin Tusk fish(and even got him eating), he has perished a slow suffering death. Ich had broken out full blown starting with the hippo tang. Sad to see him die. RIP 5/11/07 10:05pm.

The rest of the fish are not doing well at all except for the Mexican Wrasse and Blue damsel fish. Very Tragic. Still in the midst of trying to save everyone else.... Hippo, Maroon, Dwarf Lion and Squirrel. Wish me luck :(

Magic Aquarium potions

Three magic potions. Kordons Ich Attach, which is 100% natural organic to help with Ich. Will not harm snails, crabs or live rock. Kent Essential Elements which are great during water changes. AmQuel also awesome for water changes. Removes Chlorine, Nitrate and Nitrite. Also Last but not least Cycle for adding bacteria to new water while performing water changes. Very good to also use when adding new fish.

Hippo tang curious

Fuzzy lion with tank mates hippo and damsel

Pic of Fuzzy lion dwarf below and Hippo tang with damsel above

Dwarf fuzzy lion fish

Traded my 8inch volitan lion fish for 2.5 inch Fuzzy Dwarf lion. Volitan was almost about ready to out grow the tank. Dwarf will only grow max 6 inches and is a slow grower. I already got him to eat frozen silver slides. He looks like a keeper.
